Meniscus lens
A crescent lens is designed to minimize spherical aberration. When combined with another lens, a crescent lens can reduce the focal length, thereby increasing the numerical aperture (NA) of the system without introducing significant spherical aberration. When used to converge parallel light, the convex surface of the lens should face the light source to minimize spherical aberration.

Meniscus lens

One side of the meniscus lens is a convex surface and the other side is a concave surface, and the center thickness is greater than the edge thickness, causing light to converge and improving the third order spherical aberration.
