Negative meniscus lens

The negative meniscus lens is designed to minimize the spherical aberration in optical systems. When combined with another lens, the negative meniscus lens can increase the focal length, thereby reducing the numerical aperture (NA) of the system. When used to converge parallel light, the convex surface of the lens should face the light source to minimize spherical aberration.

One side of the meniscus lens is a convex surface and the other side is a concave surface, and the center thickness is greater than the edge thickness, causing light to converge and improving the third order spherical aberration.
